Jim Hester established Sound Wave entertainment in 1997, after observing that wedding and entertainment services frequently failed to exhibit professionalism and give attention to detail essential to the success of important events. Once he decided that he could deliver what other pro’s were not, Jim worked very hard to establish his company as a leader in the industry, and has succeeded in doing so in a very short time—proving that his assessment of what customers want was right on target.

Over the past eight years, many Washington, D.C., and Virginia, clients and related industry businesses have agreed, booking Sound Wave Entertainment at major event sites in the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area. Sound Wave entertainment is on the preferred vendor list at the Washington Dulles Hilton, and Jim was first choice of the hotel’s catering manager to entertain at her own wedding.Jim is also a favorite at Bristow Manor in Bristow Va, the Tyson’s Westpark Hotel, the Fairfax County Historical Properties organization, and is a favorite of local wedding coordinators like Memorable events. And while being recommended by long-established vendors and organizations is important, a large percentage of bookings come from those who have used Jim for their wedding or other special occasion, and, equally important, from guests who felt that Jim Hester had made a huge contribution to the success of the event. When it comes to picking DJ professionals, Jim was very selective! Each new hire had to exhibit the same level of professionalism and personality for which he himself has become noteworthy. As a result, the past four years have seen only four additions to the Sound Wave Entertainment staff. All these DJs had extensive backgrounds, and had specialized in conducting wedding ceremony and reception music with just the right touch of skill and taste. However it became very clear that over time that it was harder and harder to find reliable people to cover dates six months to a year in advance. Jim was left having to scramble to cover a wedding with only a couple of weeks to go because of this problem of unreliable help. Jim got the client covered but all though the clients said everything went good he was still left feeling it could be better. There for in 2006 the only dee-jay Jim will book will be himself. From the very beginning, Jim Hester never planned Sound Wave Entertainment as a hobby or part-time business. He devotes all his energy and enthusiasm to making Sound Wave Entertainment a full-time—lifetime—enterprise. Of course, Sound Wave is the perfect venue for Jim, allowing him to be a stay-at-home dad to his two daughters--Morgan, a bright and energetic seven-year-old, and Rachel, a high energy 4 year old! Although Sound Wave is expanding at a rapid pace, every member of Sound Wave’s family is committed to the original concept--to treat each potential and current customer with the care, understanding, and personal attention.
