Jim Hester
Jim Hester began singing before he could speak a full sentence! As a baby of less than 18 months, he could hit the right note at the end of almost any song, even though he was as yet unable to string enough words together to form a sentence! His love of music is not surprising--music played a very large part in the Hester family's life. His mother, a professional vocalist, encouraged all the children to develop their musical abilities with group singing learning to play various instruments. When the family sang together, which they did almost nonstop on car and camping trips, Jim's enthusiasm for music always surfaced loud, clear, and on key!
In high school, Jim was a member of the Annandale High School choir, earning a spot in Virginia's All-State Choral Clinic. After graduation, he became the lead singer in a rock band for a short, but fun, time. However, after his marriage in 1989, Jim did the adult thing--he left the performing world to pursue a "real" job, but the urge to perform never left. He missed the excitement of performing and, admittedly, the satisfaction of pleasing the audience.
Jim noted as a guest at many weddings, how often these important events were ill managed--sometimes disorganized and chaotic, and at other times, over-organized and stiff. It was his feeling that music is one of the most important ingredients of a successful wedding day, since it is music that can most quickly evoke emotion and memories. Jim had also observed, in his performing days, how the inability of performers to "read the crowd"--to fit the music to the listener-made what should have been an exciting time seem dull and flat! These observations led him to the belief that he possessed the formula and know how to become a successful Dee Jay. For several years, he worked Dee Jay club dates to gain experience. But to be able to put into practice the high standards he wanted to establish, he knew he must work for himself, not others! Thus, in 1997, Sound Wave Entertainment came to be. Over the last eight years as he has seen and helped so many people do what he him self will do for his own daughters one day. Weddings are such an important day that they should not be taken lightly. "It' not hard to picture my self at my own daughters wedding" Jim is always saying. "I feel it's what gives me my passion".
Since founding his business, Jim has personally Dee Jay'ed at more than 500 weddings. Now he combines his skill as a Disc Jockey of 15 years with his vocal talents of more than 25 years, offering live, high-quality vocals that set Sound Wave Entertainment apart from run-of-the-mill disc spinners, and will make your wedding uniquely memorable.
